University of California in Santa Barbara is a leading research institution in the city and state of the same name. UCSB is a member of the Association of American Universities, home to the National Center for Ecological Analysis, as well as an Hispanic-Serving Institution. UC Santa Barbara offers more than 200 programs of study from its campus atop cliffs, which is bordered by the Pacific Ocean on two sides. The university is also home to a number of national and research center and units, the unique College of Creative Studies, and is the editorial headquarters for The Writings of Henry D. Thoreau.

ucsb is a beautiful research-oriented university located right next to the beach. although it has a "party reputation," this is merely a stereotype that possesses little basis (although people are a lot more well-balanced here... cough cough berkeley). overall, i chose to come here (committed two weeks ago) because i got into the honors program (tons and tons of benefits), it had my major and was pretty good at psychology and biology (my major is biopsychology), and because i felt i connected with the people on campus (tons of happy and down-to-earth people).
